About

Hi. I’m Jay Owens.

This is my blog for longer-form thinking about social media and the politics and social impact of new technology.

Other places to find me:

I work as a researcher at FACE, looking at how people are using social media and what they’re saying on these networks. We innovate new research methods using social data, from network analysis and audience mapping  to the myriad possibilities of mobile phones, quant self and augmented research.

Previously I wrote a Masters thesis on dust (MA Modernity, Space and Place at UCL), and prior to that I read Social Anthropology at the LSE. I’m returning to studying Statistics through the OU in Autumn 2012.
